Teicoplanin is an antibiotic that is used for the treatment ofbacterial infectionswhich sometimes occurs in the blood or joint or bone. This medication is given when other antibiotics fail to fully eliminate the bacteria or in cases when other patients are allergic to other antibiotics.
Ensure to notify your doctor if you face any major or minorallergic reactionas soon as possible. Common side effects includeskin rash, dizziness, headache, nausea, pain and stiffness, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, swelling of facial feature and body parts,hivesand problems withhearingand maintaining balance.
Do not use Teicoplanin if you suffer fromhypersensitivity. Take precautionary measures by informing your doctor if; you have renal insufficiency, you have LFT, you are taking any prescription or non-prescription drugs, you are allergic to any or medicine or substance, you arepregnantor are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.
The usual dose in adults for minor infections is 6 mg on the first day followed by 3 mg per day given via IV infusion or IM or IV bolus. Ideally the dosage should be prescribed by the doctor based on your age, medical history and current condition.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF TEICOPLANIN
In addition to its intended effect, Teicoplanin may cause some unwanted effects too. In such cases, you must seek medical attention immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. Please inform your doctor if you experience any adverse reaction to the medication.
